bitter cold

On my trip home last night, the car had been sitting in single degree temps for several hours. When I started, the water temps said 26f. More than 20 degrees colder than current temps! About a 15 second warm up, and I was off. I was about 2 miles from the highway, and only had to stop once. while on the highway, as water temps were approaching normal operating temps (lower grille is totally blocked), I switched over to IA temps, and it said 4f!. :eek:Mileage was pretty bad for me, struggling to hit 25 mpg. I never went over 58 mph the whole trip. When I pulled into the garage, Scangauge read 25.7 mpg.
That is terrible for my car, but considering the extreme temps, not all bad.

Lucky dog!! I'm in the southeastern US about 35 miles from Charlotte, NC and we are supposed to flirt with 0* temperatures tonight. We were down to 10* at my house this morning.

Charlotte here and current temp is 24f and falling I am not even going to try for milage on this tank as it's too cold even with the grille blocked.

My digital thermometer is currently reading 16.5* in Mt. Pleasant, NC.

Tonight, we may see -10f. I didn't go out at all, except to retrieve the trash cans. Tomorrow we should hit 20. Warmer than its been in a few days...

it was -15 the night before last, -5 yesterday, -20 last night, -5 today. my antifreeze froze in the hoses and turned to slush in the block which made for an interesting trip to school yesterday. I added a bunch of straight anti-freeze and it was ok last night and today. nevertheless the oil in the engine and trans were like molasses (the trans takes ATF and was still hard to shift) I've been hovering around 19-22 mpg the last couple tanks and it doesn't help that it developed a leak in the exhaust manifold recently

It's been hovering in the ten's of F here, the increased air density seems to be making my engine more ping-prone. Already running 91 octane non-ethanol gas.... time to turn back the timing... :(

-3 this morning when I left for work. Stinkin cold.

I woke to this yesterday. Its the reason I didn't leave the house. The weather man said it was -10, so it looks like thermometer is off a bit?

F is on this side.............................................. ......................................C is here
