Found ethanol free gas station!

I found a gas station with ethanol free gas!! WOOHOO!!!

How do you know its ethanol free?

Greyg 02-11-2009 11:48 AM

The sign in front of the store says so and the pumps lack the yellow sticker. I'm taking their word for it.

To be fair, there is another station in town (Merrill Wisconsin) that has ethanol free 92 octane gas for .10 a gallon more than 93 octane premium with ethanol, but I'm not going to run 92 octane in my van at .30 a gallon more than 87 octane with ethanol, but the other place has 87 octane with no ethanol at the same price as everyone else.

Hmm... I noticed all the big name stations having the sticker but the some of the little name stations not. I wonder if there's any law that they have to state that? Because I'm sure some lazy gas station owners don't do it all winter.

I think the big name stations all put the sticker on the pump as a CYA measure, in case they have to send a truck of fuel there from an ethanol area. Here a lot of the stations say "May contain up to 10% Ethanol" on the pump.

It would be awesome if Auto Parts stores sell some type of Litmus Paper that will tell you the amount of Ethanol Content when you wet it with a drip of gas! That's one way to get around the "May Contain Up to 10% Blah Blah Blah"

dkjones96 02-11-2009 01:30 PM

Do they even make litmus paper that can do that?

my regular filling station(Shell) has a sticker that says ALL gas products have ethanol. what a bunch of sqiurrel poo.

Weird, around here (Kansas) almost no stations have stickers saying they contain ethanol. Maybe only 20% do. Are the other ones just lying? The major brands like conoco, phillips 66, and BP (the ones I go to) don't say anything about it. It's usually only the Kwik shops and Casey's General Stores that have like the mid grade that contains ethanol.
