WTB HF 5 speed transmission 84-87
Looking for a good functioning 1984-87 CRX HF 5-speed transmission or just a 5th gear seat from this model transmission. Located in central Pennsylvania, willing to pay shipping if further than reasonable driving distance.

i believe there is one in local junkyard
its definitely an hf...not sure if its pre-'88 or not $50 to pull it plus purchase price and i'll meet you half way from columbus. i've shipped many trannies and i know its $90 with packaging. so meeting will save you for sure from mid-PA agree and i'll go find out the year for sure |
A Word of advice; The difference between a full Hf tranny and just an Si/Dx w/ HF 5th is staggering. HF tranny is incredibly tall (say 2k RPM at 60) the others with HF 5th is 2.8-3k at 60. The HF 5th only drops the 5th gear RPM 1-200 max. I've done it and was disappointed. Hold out for a full Hf if you want the super highway mileage. my .02, Mak

what he's referring to specifically is the difference in final drive
the si has a 4.25 final drive the hf has a 3.25 there are other options if you are looking for a little mechanical advantage right now i'm running a final drive out of a 96+ hx which has roughly a 3.77 FD the 92-95 d15b7/b8 motored dx/lx models have a 4.058 FD |
Will that 92-95 FD fit in a 84-87 tranny?

proof?
my understanding is that the 2.95 is an automatic transmission i dont usually ever refer to automatic trans because they get less gas mileage save the few who do not know how to properly drive economically with a stick i get all my tranny info from mistabone (aka:transzex) if you have never heard of him...then you dont know honda trannies at all actually now that i think about it...the 2.95 might have been from the EW crx the transmission is not compatible with 88+ d.series motors as far as i know either way its one of the two scenarios last i remember...either auto or not compatible |
well i guess you are right
only came in the 88 HF and my bad, the HF only came in manual...no autos ever... i guess its not swappable into a hydraulic z6/y8 tranny so i couldn't use it which is why i wrote it off... |
