Exhaust leak weird spot
Hi i have recenly gotten an exhaust leak on my 94 Vx
its on a flexable pipe located on the down pipe rite before the cat i tried to bondo over the mesh but only lasted a few days any ideas on how i can stop the leak Thanks |
I suspect that the heat there is too high for even a "muffler bandage" repair kit you'd get at an auto parts store, let alone bondo. You probably need to replace that pipe.

yea they go out, i had to replace the one on my dads van. took freakin forever cuz of the rust!
|
size of exhaust
Ok so it looks like im replacing the entire tube
can i replace with straight pipe or does it have to be flex also what is the size of a stock vx exhaust |
You must have a slip/flex joint so the engine can rock a little when you speed up/slow down.

Out of curiosity is thermal expansion large enough to be one reason for flex joints?

The OEM VX exhaust doesn't have a traditional flex section, much less before the Cat....I don't believe that you have a stock exhaust on your VX. #11 in that picture is the stock VX downpipe coming from the Maniverter. The stock system has spring loaded bolts and rounded graphite gasket on the downpipe from the exhaust manifold that attach it to the B-pipe and the rest of the system to tack up any rocking motion. IIRC, the stock diameter of the OEM system is either 1.65" or 1.75" |
