This may sound stupid but i'm new to this. I've just signed up and my fuel tank has about 1/4 fuel left. If i go and fill it up do i record this in fuelly, or wait until the next time i fill up? Secondly is a partial fuel up when i spend whole amounts such as $10 or $20 without the tank being filled to its entire capacity? |
If you're using odometer tracking, sure, go ahead and enter your fuel-up. If you're using tripometer tracking and you didn't reset your trip at your last fuel-up, then reset it at this fuel-up and you can start next time. Here's more info: What's the difference between tracking with Trip Miles vs. Odometer?
A partial fuel-up is when you can't fill up to the top. So yeah, if you put in fuel based on a round dollar amount like $10, that's a partial. Here's more info about that: How do I account for partial fuel-ups? and Why do I have to fill the tank all the way up every time I buy fuel? |
I've just put in my most recent tankful as a partial, because Shell have just introduced assisted fuelling, which is unheard of here. So I wasn't able to vent&brim, & hence I wouldn't get a reliable mpg figure (I guess it was at least 4 litres short). By putting it in as a partial it should correct itself next time.

What is "assisted fueling?" I've never heard of that before.

Perhaps that's not the right terminology. It's when someone from the garage does the refuelling instead of the driver. Hence why it's not possible to get a consistent refuelling compared to previous ones where I always brim&vent.
