New to the world of gas savers...
 

I'm new to the world of gas savers. My wife and I have a beautiful scratch free Dodge Ram 1500 that's fixed up just the way we wanted it, including a lift and 35" tires. It's our baby and it's not going anywhere, but obviously it's a gas guzzling monster. The solution was to purchase a little gas saver car, and in our search we found a pristine 1999 Saturn SL2 for sale about 100 miles from home. We bought it about a week ago. I wanted to get started off on the right foot with tracking fuel savings and so here I am! I have just gone through my first 4.8 gal of fuel and started a Garage right off the bat, so we'll see how things go! :)

Think about getting a scangauge. You can use it in any vehicle with a OBDII port and it will show you the most fuel efficient way to drive any vehicle, among other things. You can swap it between your vehicles if you want and experiment.

I'm new also, a loyal honda car guy ,my alternator is still the original one with 315,464miles and still has plenty of brush lenght left i can hardly believe it myself ,honda doesn't believe it either. Its a 1997 civic HX VTEC-e lean burn rated 37-44mpg (5sp) ive been getting 46-48.8mpg don't need a hybrid.I put every mile on this car and do all the work on it,clutch is still original,starter toojust keeps going. yayyyyyy for Honda reliability! How you drive a car greatly affects the longevity of it. If you drive to save gas.. you are saving your car too! Less brakes wear, less engine wear. Overall less wear on parts.
