Meh, I don't even hate the H1, I hate the H2 because it made the hummer mainstream which is what makes it such a bane on society.

I can't fault the Excursion driver, that SUV is actually doing real work. I don't know how much that boat weighs but I'm sure it's substantial (2 axles, big tires). Even if a vehicle one size smaller could do the job, it's important to have extra capacity when towing.

Wait, someone that owns a V8 Tundra (EPA 17 MPG HWY) is bagging on the H1 and Excursion?

My thoughts on a fun vehicle would be a military version H1 hummer, cammo paint job and all. Only change I would make is I would have to add air conditioning, but there is an a/c kit for the H1 available from Hummer. Its like the old style "knee knocker" a/c units of the 50's.

Over sizing a vehicle is critical when towing. Even if you could tow that boat with a 1/2 ton pickup it probably wouldn't have adequate brakes to stop, or may have the tranny die prematurely because of the strain put on it.

I'd only frown on pic #3, as not obviously using the potential of the vehicle... and f'rall I know it's running on fryer oil.

I thought only the military version of the H1 was diesel. I thought the civilian model was gasoline... Oh, and I had driven some military H1's when I worked for the Gov't. That was fun!

I didn't know they made a gasoline H1. All of them that I've seen had the 6.x L Detroit Diesel in them. Not fast by any stretch of the imagination but good luck slowing down that 18 second 0-60. :)
