Add Non-Fuelup Event

I'd like to add certain events that occur to the timeline.

Ie: Replaced Air Filter, Performed Major Service. As it's these things that may contribute to fuel economy and explain why there might be a sudden change to mileage.

Cant you just right that in the notes section?

You can only add notes when you add a fuel up. I'm suggesting to make entries that are not a fuel up.

OK, found it. Nice one. Cheers!

Doesn't show on graph.

Would be good to have it on the graph.

KymcoMonkeys 09-25-2012 01:30 PM

pb, can we have notes shown on the graph please?

pb 09-26-2012 12:04 AM

No, sorry. Notes don't have an MPG figure so it doesn't make sense to plot them on the graph. I guess you could somehow put a vertical line on a date where a note happened, but without completely redesigning the graph it won't work.

It's an interesting idea, but it just doesn't work practically.

I'll remember that next time I'm in a meeting where someone is using a graph. Noone is going to say, "hey that doesn't make sense that you marked that important event in the graph, now we can all see that something happened that might explain an increase in XYZ"

Timelines do make sense. It's a shame that you don't see that.

Maybe we're talking past each other. The graph we're talking about is a graph of your fuel economy trend. So each point on the graph has an MPG value. Each point on the graph is a point in time, yes, but it's not a timeline with regular intervals. People don't fuel-up at regular intervals, they can skip months at a time and they'd still need to show up on the same graph.

I hear what you're saying—you'd like a way to annotate the graph. So you want to add notes somehow to the existing graph. That's an interesting idea as I mentioned, but it requires completely overhauling the way we do graphs here. We can't simply add the notes as new points on the graph because there's no MPG value. We'll keep it in mind when we look at redesigning our graphs. But it's not possible the way we're doing things now. Sorry about that.
