Chevy Volt Arriving Late 2010 now but...

Do you think Chevrolet will be able to put wheels on the ground at dealerships by the end of the year?

Has anyone tried to special order one?
If so how did it work for you?

Where are they assembled, US or out of country?

I am very interested in getting a Chevrolet Volt but I am also wary of putting a large down payment on one given the current economic climate.https://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/cro...t-6_460x0w.jpg

I'm actually interested in it as well. I am more interested in it in a few years after all the kinks have been worked out on it and once the used market is established for this model.

I honestly didn't think it was coming to the states at first but obviously it is. I am glad of that. I especially like the small turbocharged motor.

I thought you were referring to the chevy cruze. my bad, scratch what I said. had a late night last night.

The recent Camaro launch may give some clues as to how they'll perform launching the Volt.

...update: They're temporarily halting production because of limited demand. :(

They're also burning up their charging cords. How severe are they "limiting" production? Are they halting it????

Yes. Dealers currently have a 150+ day supply. Chevy will halt production temporarily and will hereafter only build to demand.

I passed a dealer in Spencer, Indiana (very small town). Half of the Chevys on the lot were Volts.

I wonder if this will affect the Vauxhall Ampera launch?

I reckon that now people are more or less comfortable with the concept of a hybrid car, GM could have tapped into some of that demand. Because Prius sales seem pretty healthy! But they were so careful to ensure consumers realised it is 'not a hybrid'...

The overheating charge cords was an early problem that has been corrected with a beefed up cord. In the serious cases with scorching and melting plastic, the cord was plugged into a gang outlet, or something else between it and the outlet. A practice the cord's label warns not to do.

I'm hoping future Volts will get the hold button in the Ampera. It puts to car into hybrid mode to save EV range.

GM claims to be coming out with a less expensive Cruze hybrid.

They already have Amperas on hand for the European launch.

I am looking forward to the Cruze diesel that Chevy promises will hit our shores.
