gas predition for summer?
I really hate to pay more, but even in the winter months it was averaging 2.80 in seattle. now the gas stations around here is a bit over 3. do you think gas can go up to 4/gal in the summer like what we had in 08?

almost the same here in new england. were paying about 2.70 now. i see 3.00 by may at the rate its climbing. its already gone up .20 in 2 weeks. mid summer id say 3.25-3.50 is possible. again.

I wouldn't mind seeing the price hit $3.50 to $4.00 this summer.
Now that nicer weather has come to Michigan, the average speed on the local Interstate is about 75 mph with some people passing me at 90 to 100 mph at least. More expensive fuel should get people to slow down. I have been averaging 70 mph lately - faster than I want but just fast enough to be safe. These days, the right, center and left lanes are all passing lanes. More semis have been driving in the center lanes lately because it is the slowest of the three. Cars are passing on the far right almost as quickly as they are in the far left. I haven't seen a spectacular crash on my way home yet but expect to soon if the afternoon races get any worse than now. |

Yeah, not here in the DC metro area either. You won't see a significant change in people's driving habits until gas hits $5/gal around here.

There were a lot of slow drivers in Summer 2008 when regular gasoline was $4.60/gal. and diesel was over $5/gal. I'd love to see prices reach those levels again this Summer. That's what it took to convert me.

Here was a piece I found on the front page of the LA Times (and I guess reprinted in other papers) a few days ago...:https://www.spokesman.com/stories/201...et-refineries/

We never reached $4.60 here. $4.00/gal never converted me to driving slow. Insurance cost did, though. By "slow" I just mean slow enough not to get a ticket.
I've found that driving slow just isn't necessary for great fuel economy. It can definitely help but there's plenty of other things that can be done. |
just don't ever buy gas in connecticut
