odometer running slow?

out of all the honda's that i have owned and been in, all of them run faster than what it is on the odometer. when i drive on a road trip, for every 10 miles on the milemarkers on the freeway, all the honda's would show 10.3

last week, on a road trip, my friends corolla showed 9.8 on a 10 mile stretch, meaning that the car gotten better gas mileage that what it was and the miles are racking slower!

do you think that its fair for honda to run up miles faster? it makes the warranty go out faster, make people believe they get better mpg, and makes honda looks good such as "my honda has 300k miles and its running great" but it actually has 293,000 real miles.

Average miles driven in US is 15,000. That means a vehicle with 300,000 miles has been on the road (on average) about 20 years. If it's off by 7,000 miles, that means it's off less than 6 months' mileage in 20 YEARS. My feeling is that's not bad.

And do each of these cars have the original size tires on them?

Typically, most cars will show slightly more distance on the odometer than the car has actually traveled, everything else being equal.
