Chirpie VX Clutch/Throwout bearing

Hi,

My '92 Honda VX is causing me issue. I replaced the clutch, throwout bearing, pilot bearing and rear main seal just a few thousand miles ago. I'm getting a chirping sound when the car is in idle, foot off the clutch. The sound goes away when depressing the clutch. The sound also goes away if I manually pull back the clutch lever in the rubber boot every so slightly so the throwout bearing doesn't touch the pressure plate. I can also hear the chirp when the car is driving down the street and my foot is off the clutch.

I know that throwout bearing can fail and usually, the make noise when putting your foot on the clutch and having the bearing fully depressing the pressure plate. Could I have a throwout bearing that is messed up in some other way?

My guess is that I need to pull the transmission and replace it all again, getting a warranty replacement from Advance Auto for the clutch kit.

Any thoughts?

According to a source I've used in the past:

Chirping while idling in neutral that disappears when the pedal is slowly actuated is caused by the fork/pivot ball contact point.

The pivot ball is at the mid point of the fork arm. You might need to adjust the clutch pedal free play so that the slave cylinder pushes the fork slightly.

I guess I was lucky that I didn't need to adjust the pedal free play when I replaced the clutch in my VX.

Hey, thanks for the response. What is it that is actually causing the chirping? The pivot ball was well greased. As are all the other contact points and pivoting points. The slave cylinder push rod needs to be longer?

Could be that the pivot ball is worn and that slightly affects the position of the release arm/bearing. Could also be that the new bearing is slightly thicker or thinner than the previous one. Could, of course, be defective.

If pulling up on the clutch pedal helps then I imagine there's an adjustment that can help. Does the clutch pedal/master cylinder push rod have an adjustment on it?

The sound is getting worse. I'm thinking its a defective throwout bearing, but thanks for the advise.
