Miles per cost
How much would it cost to drive 1452 miles with gas at $3.35 a gallon. I do not know how many miles a gallon I get say 16mpg. How would you do the math on that?? Also how do I tell how many miles a gallon my car gets.
Thanks Guys Colleen |

Re: Miles per cost
Well, 1452/16= 90.75 gallons assuming you are getting 16 MPG. 90.75*3.35=$304.02 cost.
TO calculate your actual fuel economy fill your tank till the pump clicks off. DO NOT TOP OFF. Record odometer reading and/or reset trip meter. Next time you purchase fuel again, fill the tank again until the pump stops at the first click. Record odometer reading. Distance traveled divided by fuel used = MPG. Quote:

1452/23=63.13 gallons. 63.13*3.35=$211.49 cost. |
Re: Miles per cost
I saw that. I figured I wasn't going to spoon feed them too much. I gave them the formula, they could plug in any numbers they wanted after that.

Re: Miles per cost
$3.359 / 16 = $0.210 per mile.
$0.21 x 1452 = $304.92 Roughly $300 Dollars. I always convert fuel and mpg into cents per mile because its much easier to work with. One of my vehicles cost $0.50 per mile just for fuel at current prices. I put 2,800 miles on it last week... Over the last 5 years Ive put a quarter of a million dollars in that tank. |
