Is a Walbro 190lph fuel pump for a Civic VX too much?
 

I need to replace the fuel pump in my Civic and looked at the Walbro fuel pumps and they are much cheaper than OEM and built well too.

Any VX guys with the stock d15z1 motor running Walbro fuel pumps?

that's like 45 gal/hr. I don't think your civic CAN max it out...by a considerable margin.

If you're asking if you'll be safe using it, yes most definitely. If you're asking if it's overkill and going to use more power, maybe. the difference will be like 6 amps instead of 4 though. if you're trying to eek out the last .1 mpg when you're already getting 60: yes it'll matter. but at that point will the minute amount of fuel saved outweigh the cost difference? I doubt it.

I don't recommend aftermarket fuel pumps or ones that output more or less fuel than they should because that could affect the fuel economy of the vehicle in a negative way. The pulsewidth of the injectors could be affected to the point where they simply cannot close fast enough since they'd be squirting too much fuel. If you want a VX to get great fuel economy, either improve the aerodynamics or give the car a good tuneup.

The fuel pressure regulator should prevent the excess capacity from being a problem.

yea

regulator should well regulate haha deal with regulators all day at work

i know the s10/blazer in tank pumps from walbro freakin suck hardcore and guranteed to go out in a year...i dunno if its just the company or if its just thier s10 pumps...
