Okay, that makes sense. I spose I'll leave everything stock for now until I swap the engine or if that seems to distant if I go for the hf mpfi swap. I doubt going to manual will make any difference in exhaust needs.

maybe get a cheap intake and
 
maybe get a cheap intake and a cheap exhaust such as kteller if you want alittle better power. check site below for pricing.

I'll will do some tests and see my mpg with the stock intake vs. my homemade cold air intake. (it might take a few weeks)

i would hope that you could do tests based on i/h/e v stock stuff, but that probably isnt feasable.

also remember that nearly every intake etc are different.

intake dynos for a zx2
 
This site dynoed a bunch of intakes for a ford zx2. They all showed a gain of hp in upper rpms. but i guess you want gain in lower rpms for mpg.
