Horsepower
If the coil packs on each of the spark plugs of a modern engine are used because they are better than a distributor.........
And, if fuel injection is superior to carburetors...... Why don't race car engines use them? |
Re: Horsepower
Race cars have different priorities. They need to sustain their maximum horsepower all the time, efficiency is less important, longevity is entirely unimportant, they're rebuilt every 500 miles (or less), there are no issues of emissions, they run different fuel, I'm sure I could think of a dozen other different priorities...
...and who says race car engines don't use them? There's plenty of purpose-built race cars outside of NASCAR. Formula 1 uses fuel injection and paddle-shift automated manual transmissions. NASCAR is switching to fuel injection. |
Re: Horsepower
I believe it as been awhile since 'what is best' was replaced 'what is allowed' in the major racing circuits.

Re: Horsepower
Danica Patrick would have won The Indy 500 if she didn't have to slow to save enough gas to finish.....

Try using a NASCAR or Pro Stock carburetor on a daily driver and see how that works for ya. They can do one thing equal to FI and that's delivery fuel well at WOT. Everything else is a joke. |
