Re: Tire Pressure Questions

It's not impossible or unheard of, but usually the amount of center wear seen is harmless if there is any at all. How bad was it?

Re: Tire Pressure Questions

I have found that i get the best results between 44 and 50 psi. Mostly because in eoc one will get much better roll out. I only go 55 to 57 mph max on the freeway so i would not think there would be much of a difference between 38 psi to 50 psi at that low speed under power.

I'm going to be a little contrary regarding tire pressures...I've not noticed any significant difference between 32 and 40 psi. 40 is the maximum I've tried, since the tires I was running at the time I tried this gave a max pressure of 35 psi.

FE was the same or slightly improved, wear unchanged, ride much worse and a lot more road noise. Also, in wet weather, the higher pressure tires didn't handle near as well.

^And that is why it is important to pay attention to your tire pressure experiment, not just set it and forget it. Each person has different results.

filled up my blazers tank, 20.2 mpg! best its been for this standard aroudn town driving. AND thats only bumping up tire PSI with half a tank so the first half was with lower PSI.

Just bumped my chevettes up to 37.

Re: Tire Pressure Questions

Of course, none of this does any good if you have a slow leak and don't check your pressure.

I thought I checked and inflated a month ago, but maybe it was more and maybe the cool weather is exacerbating my slow leak. For at least a week my steering has been sluggish, my power steering belt has been screaming, and the tires have been squealing around turns like they're misaligned.

Well, I finally noticed my right front tire was visibly very low. 12psi! Left front looked mildly low...16psi! https://www.fuelly.com/attachments/fo...fe577eadb4.png I paid 75 cents to inflate them to 50psi at the first gas station I saw. They're getting replaced soon so I won't worry about the increased leakage rate.

I imagine my fuel economy has suffered. I've been blaming it on my driving.
