Thermostat orientation
After I installed my thermostat I read where the pin on the thermostat should be in the 12 oclock position. I just slapped the thermostat in place and bolted the housing.
Does it really matter? https://www.turbomr2.com/MR2/HowTo/En..._Assembled.jpg |
Re: Thermostat orientation
Having the jiggle valve at the top of the thermostat allows any trapped air to escape. If there is an air pocket trapped behind the thermostat, it may not open.

Re: Thermostat orientation
on my civic there's a spot on the thermostat housing that allows for the pin to "fit in" upon installation. applying otherwise might not guarantee a tight seal. yours seems to have a different design. +1 for erik's comment. nike: just do it.

Re: Thermostat orientation
What hacks me off is that if the orientation is so important (which I understand now that it is) then why aren't there any instructions in the thermostat box?

Re: Thermostat orientation
Is that a gold-plated housing?
Spiffy. -BC |
Re: Thermostat orientation
I took out the thermostat and rotated it so that the pin is at the 12 oclock position. I also replaced the gasket.
