Drive 55

It's a pretty funny article, I think, I wouldn't drive 55 in NJ, scary enough as it is. But I dunno, mehbe I'll try some time.

I go 55 on the highway, But it has low traffic. I gennerally go with the flow (maybee a tad slower).

Around my parts (speed limit 65) the normal right lane speed is 70, middle lane 75, and left lane 80+. So even going the speed limit I'm going way slow. I've never really tested out the highway mileage, I have absolutely no idea. Mehbe if I can go buy this transmission in baltimore (3 hours away) I'll get a good idea.

On my trip recently from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas I went 65 the entire way. I stayed in the slow lane and was passed by numerous semi trucks and all other sorts of vehicles.

The speed limit was 75 though I believe. I'm not quite sure.

Anyway, I can't imagine the hell of going 55 mph. The trip probably took me an extra hour going 65 instead of 75, but I also got 42mpg on the way down which is pretty good for a 16 year old car with no modifications.

Easy rider

I like to drive slower than everyone else because it makes driving easy. Avoiding rear bumpers is right up my alley for a good ride. Besides, why twist my neck and squint my eyes to pass every Tom, Dick, and Harry?

Has anyone read my book yet?

I drive 55mph on all the freeways even in LA.

If someone drives into me I'll just sue them and get a new car that gets 40+mpg. It's a win win situation.

Haha, that's one way to see it. I'd hate to see my baby die though.

80's Rock

Sammy Haggar said it best, "I can't drive 55". Honestly, I tried it, but I got too much flack from other drivers, passengers, and my genetically-inherited "Mass-Laiden, Right-Sided, Lower Distal Extremity". EPA charts show that 60 is optimum and 65 seems to be a good compromise. 80 is just too much fun. My speedometer is off by 6 mph at 80, so I'm really going 74, which isn't too bad for a short period of time. I honestly spend most of my time at 60-70 (or 65-ish on the readout). I'll be the first to admit that my driving style needs altering, so overcoming the psychological part can yield fuel economy, it's just that simple. I'm probably not alone here, but a lot of us out there come from making more horsepower, autocrossing, driving briskly, etc. It's a tough adjustment, it's not easy, but it has to be done. There I said it. I have to slow down.

Okay, back to chipping another ecu...

1. "admit it"
2. Take action
3. Still getting crappy mileage "accidentially" light the car on fire and wait 10 min to call fire dept.
4. Collect money from insurance
5. Go to dealer and obtain a fuel economical car
6. Show it off to your friends

I was kidding for #3 and #4, no really I was.

Haha, for my car I could prolly make money by selling my stuff and buying the 70 hp economical version and swapping it all over. No need to burn! ^_^

I could sell my car but

I could sell my car but what's the point of buying another used car. I want that Accord/TSX diesel so bad. It got 140hp/250ft tq and it gets 92mpg. Talk about torque steer, LOL.

I wonder if its Federalized for safety stuff, I know that the Lupo isn't...if so you could prolly import it without too much hassle.

Also in the pic the driver was sitting on the left side. Importing a car is expensive $4000+. I give my car another 3 years max. It's a nissan afterall. Their downfall is anything rubber or electronical got to break.

Yeah, I know it's like 4 or 5 grand, but hell, for 92 mpg running on veggie oil, saving money pretty quick I'd say, plus the damn accord is posh and'll run til forever. Damn nissans.

It is a good deal. But you

It is a good deal. But you know technology always improves. In 3 years there might be cars that get 100+mpg. The new camry is coming out in 07, it will look like the new avalon except a little bit smaller. The new altima is coming out in 07 too, they say it should be a hybrid 200hp car. The new accord will be here in 07 or 08.

As long as my car works I'm going to wait. And I'll try all the strategies to save on gas.
