Honda Civic VX Gas Gauge

First, how come Honda didn't put in a warning light for when the gas gets low in the Honda Civic VX's way back in the day? Just being cheap? I don't see how that could be a big deal. Second, once you hit the Empty line on your VX's gas guage, how far can you go without running out of gas? Anybody out ther that has a VX, please chime in? Curious as to how far I can push my car without getting stranded on the side of the road. :D

On the interstate and without stop 'n go driving. You can probably go anywhere from 50-100 miles depending on constant rate of travel achieved. If you are traveling 55-60 MPH, in 5th gear. Try it.

Get a 5 gallon container of gas, put it in the vehicle and go driving when the fuel gauge is getting low.

Run out of gas and refill.

Done. lol

I've honestly thought about doing that!!! I just might try it. I had a gas can in my car today, so just in case I ran out I could walk to a gas station LOL.

just take your mpg and multiply it by 10. '93-'95 VXs had a 10 gallon tank. '92s had a 11.9 gallon tank.

I usually filled up at around 450 miles to be safe. The longest I ever went was 680-something. I was driving at 55 mph and drafting EVERYTHING I could. Your range really depends on your driving style & conditions.

Mpguino will show you how much gas is left closer then the stock gauge.

Sweet! So there is another reason to buy this dealio! Hey, I've got a 1992, so mine has the 12-gallon tank. I can multiply by 12! Any idea why they switched from the 12-gallon tank to the 10-gallon tank????

Have you actually put over 11 gallons of gas in your car? I have a 1992 Honda Civic VX and as best I can tell it only has a 10 gallon tank. I have to believe some sites just state it has a 11.9 gallon tank just like other Civic's do. Honda wanted to cut weight on the VX and a smaller tank helped cut weight. Also if you average over 40 miles to the gallon, why bother with a larger tank?

Yes, I've put 12 in it. Check my Garage Page. I put 11.99 in it last night. I can put more than 12 in it I think. I wasn't on empty or completely empty when I filled it any of the times I've been able to put that much gas in it. Of course, I'm squeezing as much gas into it as I can. The pump wants to shut it off around 9 gallons but I've found that's nowhere near topping it off.
