Hello - New member with Corolla LE Eco and Sienna XLE - Gas grade and miilage

Hello people. I am new to Fuelly. I have 2011 Toyota Sienna XLE and 2014 Toyota Corolla LE Eco.

Toyota lists mpg for Corolla LE Eco as 30 for the city and 40 for the highway. So far, I have driven 1000 miles and have yet to see anything over 30 mpg.

I drive 60-70% on the highway and 30-40% in the city but I live in Los Angeles. It doesn't really matter whether I drive in the city or on the freeway since its all pretty much the same. Freeway driving is usually worse than the city street driving (it takes me 1 hour 45 minutes to drive 35 miles on freeway to work every day).

So I realize that I may never get to see 40 mpg which other drivers of the similar car are registering.

What I was wondering however was, if I put higher octane fuel in the car, lets say a premium 91 octane v/s my regular 87 octane, would that give me a better fuel economy? Does anyone know?

Give the new Corolla time (to break in + warmer weather) anything other than 87 octane (if that's what is called for in the book) is a waste, tire PSI good ?
