People are so ignorant

I told a couple of people my mileage they said it's impossible. All I did was keep up my maintenance schedule and drive the speed limit.

When you try to help people out they snap back at you.

"It's impossible", "Maybe he's telling him mileage in KM", what KM, this is US, not Canada.

"He put the wrong tires on", yeah I put tires from the escalade on my car because I couldn't afford big rims.(sarcastic)

I'm not going to tell anyone anymore how I get my good mileage. They think it's impossible. My cousin is the same way. "The faster you go the less gas you'll waste"

He told me I was stupid, but when I told him that my heavy POS is getting better mileage than his civic he shut up real quick.

So if anybody tells you it's impossible and they are telling you you're stupid just stop talking to them.

The only place I'll tell

The only place I'll tell what I do to my car will be here. At other places people are too ignorant. All they care about is having an office desk wing, wheels so big that they rub the tires to threads in 5k and alzteccas. Let's not forget the drops so low they crack their bumpers.

MAD JDM YOOOOOO!!!!

It is unfortunate that

It is unfortunate that people don't understand how mileage works.

I told a friend of mine (who used to build Honda track cars) that my goal was 60mpg in my sedan. Given I'm more likely to hit 50 than 60, but whatever. I told him how I was going to do it, etc.

As some of you know I plan on swapping in a motor from a Civic VX. He told me, "Matt, a Civic VX only gets 45mpg max." I then had to explain to him that the non-california gets higher mpg and that there were many other ways to break the 45mpg barrier.

I figured that someone who knows Hondas inside and out would know that this goal is possible. Unfortunately, however, the brilliance required to properly tune a car to get max horse power and top speed is never applied to getting max fuel economy.

I wouldn't call it ignorance as much as I'd call it, well, ignorance. You're right. I guess I'd call it a lack of education more than ignorance. "Ignorant" is such a loaded word.

45mpg is only the 1st stage

45mpg is only the 1st stage in the MPG war. With a little bit of work it can be achieved. So far I'm only doing maintenance stuff. I haven't even put anything in my car yet. Hondas have so much possibilities. You don't even need to have a hybrid to touch hybrid mileage.

I just hate how the average

I just hate how the average drive hits the brakes for no reason or passes for no reason. Stupid gas wasters...

This one customer were I used to work would idle there car for +15min in
nice weather with the window down. I noticed them doing this several times.
