First Entry - how to .....

I'm trying to add my first entry and I'm having a problem.

The site won't let me show just the amount of fuel in the gas tank on delivery from the dealer. I've seen other user's first entries showing this. Is there something that I'm missing.

Thanks!

The best thing to do is just record your miles and fillups. You have no idea how far the vehicle went on the previous tank when the dealer topped it off, so it will skew your results.

I picked the car up from the dealer with 38km on the odometer and 57 litres in the tank. I was planning on adding the 38 km to the total mileage for my first fill-up.

I see lots of first entries for people (see the first entry on the log book here: https://www.fuelly.com/driver/kmclean/rondo ) where it shows just the number of litres/gallons in the tank and the date, but when I try to add a fill-up with just that info I get an "invalid request". Don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I've read that Fuelly doesn't do calculations on the first tank, but if I enter the 38 km and 57 litres, I end up with a horrific mileage calculation that will mess-up my average mileage readings.

Yes, you get a horrendous calculation because 38KM and 57 liters of fuel... Well the vehicle didn't use 57 liters to go 38 KM. Ignore the 38 KM. Ignore the 57 liters. Start with known quantities, IE, your first fillup.
