What are the prices in your area

Hi Guys

Just wondering what price you are paying for your fuel in your area.
Where we live in the north west of Western Australia.
Diesel $1.86 Australian per metric litre
Unleaded $1.86 AU
There are 3. 75 litres to a US gallon I think and I think and 4.5 to the imperial gallon.
1 gallon US would cost $6.95 aus.
1 gallon imperial would cost us $8.37 aus.

Cheers
Ernie

Hungary: This weekend I fueled up (95 RON E5) at 426HUF per liter, which is ~ 7.04 USD per US gallon. (1.98 AUD per liter)

Draigflag 07-22-2014 08:30 AM

1 US size gallon of fuel in the UK costs 9.36 Aus dollars, and the UK gallon costs 11.26 Aus dollars, expensive here...

hypermarquis 07-22-2014 09:44 AM

Hello, Paid $3.32 US gallon today 7/22/14

sparkn 07-22-2014 03:12 PM

I believe I paid $3.71 a gallon US for my last tank. $3.32 sounds even better :D

I use the GasBuddy app faithfully to find the cheapest gas and diesel. I don't know what's available outside the US.

Cancan06 07-22-2014 09:16 PM

Hi guys thanks for your replies.
Alvaro84 your prices are similar to ours .
Drain flag your prices are bloody scary, as we will be in the UK next August that's interesting to know. We will have try and hire a Clio that gets 88 miles pg that's incredible. I hope the prices in Europe are cheaper than yours.
Hypermarquis, sparkn your prices don't seem to have changed much since we were there in 2011, we used gas buddy as well. We hired an RV with V10 Ford so we needed to find the cheapest fuel when we could. We have a similar system in west OZ that is run by the state govt called fuel watch.
Anyway catch you later and thanks again.
Ernie

Draigflag 07-22-2014 10:59 PM

Yea the UK is officially the most expensive place to run a car, insurance, fuel, servicing and the dreaded pollution tax is verging on the ridiculous! But fuel prices have changed the car market over the years, some of the Euro diesels are very efficient.

Yea I have a Clio, only getting 63 MPG at the moment, but I've only had the car a few weeks and have not yet had the chance to drive it efficiently!

Draigflag 07-22-2014 11:05 PM

I just found an old topic I made about running a car in the UK, all told it costs the average UK driver £3500 a year, that's $6335 Australian Dollars!

andyrobo 07-23-2014 02:21 AM

Just and FYI - We plan to create some reports that show the average fuel prices across countries where we have members submitting fuel-ups at some point in the future. That would be a neat way to compare and we have all the data needed to do that.

Cancan06 07-24-2014 01:31 AM

Good idea and maybe a list of web sites like Gas buddy and fuel watch here in west Oz in each country would be handy for those who want travel and work out a budget .

Thanks
Ernie

$1.229/l or more, for 87 octane, Canadian if I fill up on our side, or $3.429/US gallon which, even after a dismal 12%+ exchange rate still works out to about $1-1.02/l for 89 octane (neither vehicle needs 91, in fact they don't need 89, but it's the same price as 87...so I'm not wasting money, but I'm also not helping power or fuel economy either I guess...so I'm wasting something). Big savings when you're filling a truck (136l tank) a car (60l tank) and another car (36l tank) - and yes, it even pays to fill THAT up in the US - I wasted $6 just now filling up here. Being a Sunday it's a matter of "do I want to wait in line for potentially an hour" due to all the weekend cross-border traffic (i.e. Cdn's going south and now coming home; American's don't come here for nothing but to fish or hunt, even though their money will go 10-12% further here, and a lot of the times the prices on our side are in their favour - except for gas).

DerrelHGreen 08-13-2014 07:16 PM

Have been paying $3.859 for Arco diesel lately at a local station
so really cannot complain except regular unleaded
87 is now lower at $3.759.
I get much better F E with my trusty old E-320 CDI.
That's less than 12 cents per mile and that is what counts!

Winifredwet 08-29-2014 12:54 AM

Hi..
The recent rate in USA for fuel as per Wikipedia reference is,
Diesel : around 3.88 dollars per gallon. Where 61% crude oil, 11% for refining, 16% for distribution and 13% for taxes.
Gasoline: 3.61 dollars per gallon

Draigflag 08-29-2014 01:13 AM

I thought the price difference for diesel was greater in the US? People keep telling me its not worth them buying a diesel in the US because of the price hike, but my diesel car gets around 70 - 80 % better mileage than my gas car previously, but the fuel is only around 10 % more expensive.

trollbait 08-29-2014 05:19 AM

Those prices are national averages. There is some wide regional differences. I think the prices are close in California, but the last time I noted the difference in Pennsylvania, diesel was nearly 50 cents more than regular gasoline.

Then the majority here are penny wise, pound foolish when it comes to fuel prices. They see the price per gallon is just more for diesel, or even premium octane gasoline, and just discount any car that requires it. Not bothering to take into account that the improved fuel economy of said car will yield the same or better cost per mile as a regular gasoline car.

Draigflag 08-29-2014 06:17 AM

Its a great shame people dont do the math properly. Since changing to diesel, fuelly has calculated that my "price per mile" is exaclty half of what it was with a gas car, even with the increase of price for diesel fuel. So even if the price of diesel doubled, it would still cost the same as my previous car.

hypermarquis 08-29-2014 01:27 PM

I checked my area this morning.... $3.34 reg and $3.99 diesel....lowest price for each....USA

Darkside 10-14-2014 01:34 PM

$2.87 yesterday in Missouri!!

FusionConfusion 11-06-2014 08:16 PM

$3.099/US gallon on the US side of the border (about .96/l after I add exchange) and $1.129ish per liter on the proper side of the border :-) - I kid...it's the side I live on. But I buy all my gas on the US side. Saves roughly $10 on the car, $20 on the truck or $80-$100 per month in my pocket.

LouSiffer 11-12-2014 03:31 AM

Back to $1.09/L here in Ottawa in the east end of the city - $1.12 in the west end.

Kuripot_Kevin 11-12-2014 07:19 AM

2.639 here in east central IL

Kuripot_Kevin 11-13-2014 07:25 AM

2.589 now here in east central IL

Draigflag 11-13-2014 08:21 AM

Ours has dropped quite a bit now, but interesting to see a huge difference between the cheapest, and the most expensive premium in the UK now. The cheapest is $8.64 and the most expensive is $11.63! Thats a $3 difference between the cheapest and dearest!

B3NN3TT 11-13-2014 08:57 AM

I filled up with 93-octane premium for less than $3 a gallon this week ($2.97). The last record of anything less than $3 that I found in my log was in November of 2010.

Draigflag 11-13-2014 09:11 AM

Its strange how your fuel is less than $3 a gallon, and yet here, thats the price difference per gallon between the cheapest and premium!

@B3NN3T I see you have a 500 Abarth, I had one for 5 years, what do you think of the little car?

Kuripot_Kevin 11-13-2014 09:59 AM

I will mention this, my mileage has dropped off a cliff since the change to winter blend and colder weather. The Accent has gone from about 38mpg down to probably 33mpg.

Draigflag 11-13-2014 01:04 PM

I thought mine had dropped, but I've just come back from a 44 mile spin and managed 72.3 MPG which is more than I usually get.

Kuripot_Kevin 11-13-2014 03:18 PM

I drive about 75 miles per day so it's immediately obvious when my mileage drops.

Enjoying it immensely. When the Mini Cooper I was looking at was sold, I took a test drive in the Abarth instead, and kind of fell in love with its histrionic eagerness right away. I was afraid it would be too small, since I'm 6'4" tall, but this model, without the sunroof, has loads of headroom. The cabin is so well-engineered for space, too.

It was meant to replace the SVT Focus (equivalent to your ST170 Focus), but we can't bear to part with it yet, so it's still around as well. Even though its 2.0 makes more bhp than the Abarth, the lack of torque in the Focus really makes it feel like a slug around town by comparison.

Draigflag 11-14-2014 06:02 AM

They are great little cars, perhaps one of the funnest cars in the past decade! Really sad to sell mine, but it had a hard life and bits were going wrong. Plus, even at 40 MPG, it was too expensive to run here with fuel prices as they are. Maybe one day i'll own another ;)

Kuripot_Kevin 11-18-2014 06:02 AM

2.499 in Danville IL this morning! Come on 2 bucks!

trollbait 11-18-2014 08:42 AM

Ours might be starting to climb. Went from $2.85 to $2.88 recently.

JanGeo 11-19-2014 06:46 AM

As fake as gas prices are they actually follow a trend, a little blip at thanksgiving but generally dropping towards the end of the year then start going up in January ... The first quarter of a new year needs to bring in more profit and "they" jack up the price! If you check the GasPrices"state name".com and check the price history going back years you can see these trends clearly.
It is nice to get below $3 a gallon finally again of course my last fillup was the beginning of the month before the drop.

Kuripot_Kevin 11-19-2014 07:13 AM

What do you mean by "as fake as gas prices are"? The companies that sell gasoline are colluding?

Kevin

Draigflag 11-19-2014 08:22 AM

I think by fake, they mean that the cost of refining, producing and transporting fuel is pretty much the same the World over. And yet in some places, fuel is less than $1 a gallon, in other places, fuel is over $20 a gallon. Those damn politicians creaming the profits and taxing fuel to death.

trollbait 11-19-2014 08:37 AM

Pretty much that, but I'll add that the places where it is less than dollar are likely oil countries subsidizing the cost.Several years ago, Iran had mass protests when the government tried to increase the price.

JanGeo 11-19-2014 09:56 AM

By fake I mean they are a reflection of the market driving the crude up in price which is in tankers off shore driving in circles waiting until someone on Wall Street decides to refine it.

So they're running out of places to put now so the price dropped 30% on crude?

JanGeo 11-19-2014 12:20 PM

Yeah as the tankers circle and it's contents get sold and resold with each middleman making his cut... The last guy holding the paper got screwed as that certain middle east country flooded the market with cheap crude.

Kuripot_Kevin 11-20-2014 06:08 AM

Seems like the free market at work to me. Less demand, more supply, cheaper prices.
