Peugeot 206 HDI

Hi,

I have a 2002 206 1.4 HDI, had it about 6 months at this stage and it was bought because of it's 66mpg combined figure.

I have a gently commute 15 miles each way, mostly 50mph roads, so ideal for good fuel economy.

Looking forward to adding my fill ups and showing what can be done with one of these little Peugeots.

They are fantastic machines for getting good MPGs. I'm currently getting 70-75 mpg per tank and hoping to get some further tips and tricks here to bring that up to the over 80's.

Regards

Oliver.

Hi Oliver. I recently bought a Renault Clio, french diesels seem to top the charts when it comes to economy. Only managed 60 to 63 MPG in mine thus far, but hopefully I too will be able to get it into the 70's/80's once ive perfected the technique!

Draigflag,

Thanks for the welcome.

How many miles does your Clio have on it, I know Diesel engines can take quite some time 10-20k miles before they are fully run in.

Also, are you using any Hypermiling techniques with the Clio?

I'm sure between everyone on Fuelly we can all share best practice and improve our MPGs

Oliver.

She's got less than 6k on the clock so im expecting it to improve with the mileage. Ive tried a few techniques but its difficult here as I live in Wales, probably similar to where you live, there are no highways and lots of hills! Plus during the week I do mostly short trips to work and picking up ky gf from work too.

The most I had was 94.6 MPG but that was only over a 16 mile trip so cant take too much notice of that!
