Newby from the Adirondacks

Hi Everyone,

I found this forum searching info on a motorcycle. I really think it's cool and decided to join. I have always routinely checked my mileage. I started riding before I started driving, so my origins are in motorcycling. It started then because motorcycles didn't have fuel gauges "in the olden days". They did have a reserve but switching to reserve after running out of gas in traffic was excitement I didn't need. So, I monitored my mileage. The habit followed me when I started driving.

I have always taken satisfaction getting the very best mileage from the machines I use. That's not to say I don't get lousy mileage sometimes on my bikes, as it can be hard resisting the temptation to twist the wick.

So, I will do my part and post the mileages I get and help the team.

Thanks for reading.

Hi RydinFool,

I'm new to the forum too. I don't have a bike but I sure like them. I'm a touring bike fan as opposed to the racing style bikes. I'm not particularly fond of a specific brand, but I do like Harleys and Honda Gold Wings. Both seem to have their merits. Harleys for style, and Gold Wings for engineering. :) What do you ride? I used to own a Kawasaki Kz100 dirt bike. Had a blast on it when I was living on a nice farm property.

Just sayin, Harleys have some fantastic engineering too...just wish they (and others) had stuck with carbs.

I love the fact that the engine on Harleys are based on aircraft radial engines and they're so customizable (is that a real word?).
