I found a guy who will sell them to me for $50 shipped, but if they're $60 new on hondapartsdeals, then I might as well just buy them new...

For me they are good for a few reasons. Not only are they lighter (3lbs isn't really that much) but they look a lot better than the rusted out drums on my car now. Drums are lighter than rear disc conversion as well, so adding rear discs is not an option.

Oh, and don't get too used to this screwed up software. I'm going to rewrite my own forum module for this site sometime in the next few months, so the "add a comment" thing will be an annoyance of the past.

I'm guessing $50 is for BOTH, but the $60 new is EACH. Big difference there.

Do remember, it is rotating un-sprung weight, the worst of all weight.

Agreed. Did you know the Civic VX has some sort (barely) of a underbody "tray" basically a little chunk of plastic that helps air from getting "caught" under the car. Still a slight improvement over the other models.

I have about 800 yards of

I have about 800 yards of fiberglass in my storage unit, I've been meaning to make an underbody tray for like 6 years now. =) Flat would be ok... but really dimpled like a golf ball would be best, it cause a low friction bountry layer that the air rides across. as far as design... just make it come up to the front and rear lips... then cut notches for the suspension and such, maybe vent the engine bay.

For the time and resin it takes, I just buy CF ones. I get them at a very reasonable rate (under $300).

I think hoods are a little

I think hoods are a little above my current fiberglassing skills, at least anything that would look good. =)

I just checked on ebay carbon fiber hoods for CRXs are around $300-$400 (after shipping). Thats rather costly for 10-15 pounds. I think you would have to drive a billion miles to get you money back in gas saving.

Most carbon fiber hoods now adays arn't even that good of quality, and sometimes they offer no weight reduction at all. It's more of a fashion statement than anything else.
