EPA estimates online

While it is a little crude, I have completed the EPA estimates for all cars from 1985-2006. You can find your car here:

https://www.gassavers.org/EPA

I have no plans on adding much more data to it. The entire purpose of it is to get an idea where your car sits in comparison to the EPA estimates.

I will be adding functionality soon to assign your garage entries to their given EPA estimates.

It probably took a good chunk of yesterday, but I think it's worth it. Realizing that many of the years had a similar data format was a definate bonus.

Please take note that the EPA changed the way it reported estimates beginning with the 85 model year. They began reducing the measured highway results by 20% and the city results by 10%. That was in response to the public outcry that the estimates were unrealistic. Now it seems that we are in for another round of adjustments next year, due to a similar public outcry.

One example of this is the 84 CRX 1.3 (54/67)and the 85 CRX HF (49/54). You can see that the estimates dropped by 20% . Unfortunately the DB that Matt made does not have the 84 CRX.

IT does have the "civic coupe," which is what I think they called the CRX back then.

Looks like there was a slight error while importing the 1984 vehicles, as can be seen with the "combined" mpg.

I agree that this is prolly what a civic coupe is.

EPA Estimates can now be

EPA Estimates can now be added to your "garage" page for each car.

For an example, see here:

https://www.gassavers.org/garage/89_honda_civic.html

To add the EPA profile to your particular vehicle, simply visit the garage page for each vehicle and click on the link that says, "Change this vehicle's EPA profile."

W00t! I'm EPAified

Hmmm. Now that the EPA estimate info is there, along with the gaslog average, wouldn't it be easy to display, along with the average MPG, the % under/over EPA combined? If I had an "EASY" button, I would do it for you. I saw several on ebay. Maybe I will get one. ;-)

now we'll be able to do the epa VS cumulative mpg comparo graphically as well.

i've incorporated it into the dynamic graphs on my own site (which i've offered to help do here too).
