Technically challenged newbie :)

Hey there,

Just purchased a 2015 Subaru Outback 2.1 Ltd. Will be picking it up today. Woop woop! (sorry I'm a wee bit excited).

The car has 48 miles on it and a full tank of gas. Gas tank holds 18.6 gal. I am just wondering if I should add a fuel up now? And put 0 miles on the clock? So I can start tracking from scratch, or what do you recommend?

Any advice is appreciated.

Donna:confused:

Donna, Congrats on your new Outback, those are awesome cars!

I'd drive it a bit, say to half a tank. Then go to the gas station and top it off. Add your odometer at that time + gallons + price per gallon. I would record that as your first fuel-up. Then on your next fuel-up you will get your first MPG calculations.

The trick is to stop fueling up at the same time each time. So when the tank is full and the pump clicks off, stop fueling. Stop at the same time each time for best results.

Hi welcome. You can't add a fuel up yet, as a fuel up is when you have used fuel and driven a certain distance. If you added a fuel up now, you would get crazy figures as fuelly would think you've driven 48 miles on 18.6 gallons of gas!
