Those websites are available for everyone. SOme creative person purchased _______gasprices.com for every major metropolitan area and every state.

You can also check out www.gasbuddy.com to get your local gas prices.

I use losangelesgasprices.com same site as any _______gasprices.com

Of course most the time I can't use the stations that are posted there because they are too far away but I still post prices for other people to see.

I'm up for the test.

Think the oil in the mower should be changed every test? lol, we could even test various oils out that way...?

I do think the test would be better if I let the mower cold soak for one day before the start of the next test.

do it. I personally think

do it. I personally think Shell will get you further.

agreed

ok. And I personally agree with you as my best mileage this winter was Shell. Should I start with Shell? Where to from there?

hot cold

Hummm . . . maybe you should start with the engine already hot so to make the test go faster and eliminate any other variables. This way you run it dry on one fuel and refill with the next and start with a hot engine. This will allow you to run more tests more quickly and perhaps repeat the test for more accurate readings as well as in case the engine changes operation from test to test. Will also allow testing with additives as well. You may want to run a funnel for a gas tank instead of the regular tank so you can see the fuel used to the last drop and add it more easily or even a long clear hose to watch the fuel being used.

gas went up here too last

gas went up here too last week. from mid 70's (cents/liter) to 94/L

0.94 * 3.785 L/gal (US) = $3.5579 CAD / gallon(US)

= $3.07219 USD/gallon(US) at yesterday's exchange rate

i think the highest i have seen locally was 98 or 99/L last fall (katrina)

the lawnmower test is a good

the lawnmower test is a good idea. i'd like to see the same brand of gas run through the mower several times in a row, to get an idea of the variability of the test.

Me too. But how many times

Me too. But how many times would statisticly be worthwhile? Three maybe? So far I am going to start with shell. I can use the funnel method to be accurate on the amounts used also.

Exciting! Post this up in the experiments thread so it's in a proper area.

Also, what kinda lawnmower will you be using?

And what's the funnel method?
