2017 Toyota Prius

This is the next generation Prius. I know a lot of people are looking forward to this improved version, but it looks so unfortunate. I know its job first and foremost is to be very efficient, but the designers let the look of the car down. Official unveil is September 8, 2015 in Las Vegas.

This is their hydrogen car that looks just as horrible:

It's got that typical tall *** rear end like a Prius, never really liked the shape much, other hybrids are far better looking and don't have the stodgy looks like the Prius. Regardless of how it looks though, I'm sure it will still sell well, seems to have a cult following now. Not something I will be buying that's for sure!

hay has anybody seen the 2016 PRIUS or good news about it ?

These will probably be sold in 2016 since it is a 2017 model year; so I doubt anyone will see one on the street unless it's a test car. All I heard is that this new Prius can go 35 miles just on the battery alone; I'm sure we will know more after the September 8th unveil.

Don't really like it's back. I think designers should change it.

There are some clearer pictures out there that were taken from inside a cargo plane.

I like the new exterior overall. It doesn't have the huge X grill most new Toyotas and Lexus have. There are some sharp lines like the new Corolla that make them less stodgy than the previous models. The hint of a trunk lid may attract more buyers in the sedan centric US, the Prius's second largest market. I'm just unsure of the floating roof.

The flying bridge center console of the gen3 appears to be gone in the limited interior shots; a plus to me.

The 35 mile EV range is a rumor for the next Prius plug in, but that isn't expected for another year by Toyota announcements.

55mpg combined US is the expected fuel economy number; which is in line with the improvements of previous generations. There is a rumored eco trim though, that will have a larger Li-ion pack and attain 61mpg. Don't know if that is combined or city.

I just got a 2015. I like it more than the new one although I wouldn't mind the supposedly better head unit. The current unit is disappointing.
