first post, 2.7 f150
I have owned a 2015 f150 with a 2.7 ecoboost. According to my dash readout, I get great mileage compared to most of what I have seen on here. I'm curious to see what my results are on here vs. the dash readout.

Hi welcome. Dash readouts are nearly always slightly optimistic by 2 or 3 MPG. You'll have to do a few full brimmed tanks to see the results :)

regardless of the outcome, I came from a 2003 f250 with a 5.4 that averaged 13 mpg hand calculated so I am more than pleased with the new trucks efficiency. |
Sounds reasonable for a big truck, halved your engine size and doubled your economy, a wise choice! If you have any other older records for fuel, they can be imported, otherwise like you say, the proof will be in the pudding.
So long as your refuelling methods are consistent and you don't miss any data inputs, you should get very accurate results. I'd recommend always brimming your tank as much as you can, any "airspace" left in the tank can skew data. |
The dash display usually reads 2 MPG high on my Ford Escape.

My Focus is pretty much spot on IF the tank gets low enough for the low fuel light to come on every few tanks (helps the car know what 'low'
is) not sure if this a Ford thing or if the EB engine is affected |
LOL, I usually drive mine past DTE=0.

I let my tank get so low, I actually got 8 litres more than the official tank size, that's more than 2 US gallons!

Results are in, computer claimed 24.2 average this tank. I got 23 hand calculated. This tank was almos 2 mpg less than my last tank according to my computer (south Florida gets overrun by people from Ontario and Michigan during the holidays. They force me to spool up my turbos more than usual to escape their terrible driving, lol.)
Next tank should be back to normal. |
