City Driving
 

Hello, Just started using Fuelly. Seems like a great idea for a website.

Just two questions atm, ... when I enter a fuel up, and the City Driving slider is set to 50% am I saying that the driving I did on my last tank of fuel was 50% city, or that the driving I'm going to do, on the tankful I just filled with, will be 50% city?

... and what difference does it make in the calculations? Is it just for my own information?

Hi Martin, welcome. Yes the city/highway input is for the fuel you just used. It's only a guess, you can choose whether to display it or not in the settings. It makes no difference to the calculations, it's so so others comparing mileage with similar cars can see whether you do more miles in the city or the highway and how your data may reflect that.

Also, you may want to delete your first fuel up. A fuel up is not just adding fuel, it's starting with a full tank, using some up, then filling up again. You have to go from full tank to full tank to get accurate figures (although alot of people do what you did and add an initial fuel up with 0 miles) it's not the best way to start.

Maybe it's different with odometer tracking, I've only ever used the trip odometer. I guess the important thing is to try and brim the tank each time.

I never use the trip odometer, because in the event I lose power or disconnect the battery for a repair, that info is lost entirely. Would be different for an analog cluster, but not in the digital age.

True, that happened to me once after a battery reset. If my car ever goes in for a service now, I just take a phone pic of the dash just as a precaution.
