New user, new car!

Hello Everyone,
We just picked up a new Camry LE hybrid!!! I figured it was time to track my mileage costs as I drive a bit for work.

Matt, was that really you on the intro video? The voice sure sounded familiar.

I plan on using the odometer to input my data. Is there a way to set the initial ODO reading to 0 in Fuelly so that my first fill...whenever that might be...will calculate an actual MPG?

Thanks,
Jay

Edit: I just added a fill up with 1 mile on the ODO!!!

Hi Jay

Good luck - I'm sure we all have the same headache on that first entry!
Cheers, Ben

Hello, Jay. I was wondering the same thing about the first entry.

I took delivery of a 2016 Subaru Outback 2.5i two weeks ago, with 168 miles on the odometer. The dealer sends you off with a full tank of gas, so I put in a complete SWAG for my first entry. 168 on the odometer, EPA rated 25mpg city, must have been 6.72 gallons :-) I telecommute for work, so I don't drive too much, and haven't hit my first fill up yet.

I have been tracking my fuel consumption on my cars since I got a car in 1973. This is what I started out with Ward's Ever-Ready Motor Record Book/ My dad & grandfather both kept these.

I moved to a spreadsheet a long time ago, and I'm probably going to keep that going until I'm comfortable with Fuelly.

A fuel up isn't just putting fuel in, it's putting fuel in, driving some miles, could be 10 miles could be 500, then fill up again. That's the only way to get a fuel usage calculation.

I'm sure that for an appropriate sum of money. The admin would put a mileage number on that first fill up for you. Say... 293 mpg? Sound good? How much money? :)

Seriously.... I can see keeping records well. It helps. I haven't kept this good of records in a long time. I might not be on this car except that I found fuelly.
