I may be going on a trip to Kentucky in July for an event associated with my last career before retiring. If so I'll get an idea of long highway run mileage. I'll probably cancel and stay home but we'll see. If you're really bored here's a link.

Hey Doug, I squeezed 776.2 miles from my last tank, I'm determined to hit that magic 800 miles though! ;)

Paul, like a kid brother, you sure know how to get under my skin!

My best-to-date is 504.9 miles on one tank with 1 gallon in reserve.

I could double my score and trump you, if I can find a high enough mountain, drive to the top of it, and then coast down its 500 mile long corkscrew road.

To beat your score, I may have to buy a mountain then have a road construction crew bulldoze a new corkscrew road around it. It WILL be worth it. Just give me time to skip a few meals to save up my lunch $$$. :D

Your best tank is 529.10 apparently Doug, did you forget about that one? ;)

Oh, yeah! I did forget. That was most unusual. With a little more than 2 gallons left, I could've pushed 600 miles on a tank.

On YouTube, a professional mechanic said running your fuel pump on a dry tank will burn it out, so I probably won't be pushing for a 600 mile tank. :(

Does it snow in your area, Paul? If so, when's it start?

Draigflag 10-09-2016 12:00 PM

Every now and again we'll get snow, it's been a few years since I've seen anything substantial, and even when we do, it only lasts a few days if that.

Paul, I'm a 1/4 Scot.

What are some broad generalities about the Scots, Irish, and English? And, generally, what do they think about each other?

Don't even ask the broadswords will be coming out LOL

I remember my 101 year old grandmothers saying "she's alright for an Englishman" and that was the only compliment she gave to the English. She was born in Glasgow and 75 years in Canada.

Ha ha ha! Same as ever, some people are gits, some aren't, some have a sense of humour. I always remember the Jack Docherty Scottish Author character from absolutely....
My mum is constantly up to Edinburgh to investigate our Scottish ancestry.
As a stupid 17 year old touring the Outer Hebrides in a 1978 Datsun 120Y, I drove it on a beach (and got stuck), and reversed it into a ditch (and got stuck). Each time farmers or fishermen unhitched what they were doing and towed me out with tractors or trucks, refusing to take payment.

The Welsh think the Scots drink a lot, the Scots think the Welsh drink a lot, the English think the Irish drink a lot, the Irish know the Irish drink a lot. When the Rugby or football is on, Scotland and Wales love each other so will support anyone but England, and support one another if they are playing. There are stereotypes for every race, religion in the World, some are true, some aren't, you'll always find someone to fit that stereotype and then apply it to everyone. ;)
