Update to Reminders

2 Attachment(s)
Hey all!

With us getting near the finish line with GasCubby 3.0 beta testing we've recently had to overhaul how reminders work on Fuelly.com to better match how we want them to look and feel in the mobile apps.

Up until now, reminders on Fuelly.com worked by counting down and automatically resetting once the timer has hit zero. So if you had an oil change reminder every 5k miles, whether you changed your oil or not, after you added a fuel up and passed that 5k mile threshold from your last reminder, it'll auto-reset and start the clock for the next reminder. Relatively inefficient but thankfully, we've updated them! :coolsmiley:

All reminders will now require a Service Type be selected. Ex: "Oil Change". Now, in order to reset the reminder, you must log a service entry of an "Oil Change" before the reminder is reset to notify you again (in 5k miles for example). For more accurate tracking, distance based reminders (let's continue using the Oil Change at 5k mile intervals) you'll be required to enter an odometer value. Users who track their fuel data via Odometer will not notice any issues here. Users who currently track via Trip Meter will need to switch over to Odometer tracking (this can be done by simply Editing the vehicle and changing tracking method) in order to add/edit distance based reminders.
Time based reminders will see no change in how they function (ex: Oil Change every 3 months).

We've also improved the display of your Upcoming/Overdue reminders in your vehicle profile-
Attachment 2199

Also, you'll immediately see overdue reminders for all your vehicles when you log into your Dashboard-
Attachment 2200

Emails will still be sent out as they were before but our mobile app users (GasTracker and GasCubby Beta) will see notifications as well.

Any questions/comments/concerns please post in this thread so we can discuss!

Are these changes now in effect?
I've been trying to set up a reminder for my next oil change but can't get it even close.
I enter 'Time or Distance' with 6 months/8000km and save.
The reminder shows next notice 2017-01-04 and 87,177km, date is 6 months from today so ok, distance is 37,979km from my last fuel up. If I edit the reminder for my last oil change it shows 47110 overdue.

I reentered my last oil change and now I'm 941km overdue.
Last oil change was at 43286km so next should be 51286km, my last fuel up was 49198km so I'm 2088km away from my next.

We'll look into this today. Thanks!

I fuelled up today, was incorrectly 941km overdue now 1451km overdue, still incorrect but the 510km difference is correct.
Should now be 1578km until due.

While you're looking in to this have a look at the email reminder sent, probably a related issue with km conversions.

Todays email reminder:

Engine Oil
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I will send this to you again after I track another 4970.969536 km in fuel-ups.

should be 8000km.

Okay, an update-
Please edit your reminder and set the "Odometer of next reminder" to what you believe it should be and see if it works correctly from there on.
Still looking into the email thing.
Did you at any point change your car from Trip Tracking to Odometer tracking during any of this?

Done, "Odometer of next reminder" makes more sense than the previous label.
Had to change the interval back to 8000km, got changed to 12???km, conversion factor.

This vehicle has always been odometer tracking, may have used trip tracking for a very short time in early 2010 on other car.

The changes you made today looked promising so I added another reminder, Tire Rotation. I filled in the distance and time intervals then clicked add. When I looked at this new reminder the "Odometer of your next reminder " field was 363.9 km higher than I expected.
Last tire rotation logged was at 43286 km, new reminder is for 16000 km, should have been 59286 km, was 59649.9 km. Was this caused by some unit conversions?

Was just messaged by Freddie that he fixed the issue.

He's still researching the email you received.

Thanks
Just added a couple more reminders, the time and distance intervals were added to today's date and distance. Had to do a quick edit to change date and distance from the last service and appears to be fine.

What's up with the miles between reminders

It won't let me enter anything past 1000.

Oops. We were making some changes, and implemented that maximum in the wrong spot.
Updated. Try again now.

Thanks, it works now.
