Just finishing my 8th month with a '15 Fusion Hybrid and feel as though I've almost learned to drive it properly. The newer habits are carrying over to my non-hybrid car and that's a plus. This car has been a pure joy in both city and highway driving as it is so quiet and comfortable. Thanks to the smaller gas tank capacity I'm filling up at about the same frequency but at significantly fewer gallons. People in general seem to think in terms of when the extra cost for a hybrid will pay-off but I've chosen to just enjoy it and know that my fuel costs and maintenance cost are much lower than the straight gas fueled cars.

Hi - my own motoring has been much happier since switching to a hybrid in March. I still feel as if i don't know what i'm doing!
Nearly 8,000 miles and i'm below the Fuelly average for the new Prius, but have gone from 60 to nearly 70 mpg (imp.) when i fill up.
The main joy though is just how much nicer it is to drive, and all the toys.

Hello and welcome to Fuelly, congrats on the new car. I checked your stats, it does have a pretty small tank, or are you just filling up at early intervals?

Yes hybrids are interesting critters! My brother (in Kentucky) has an '09 and a '12 Prius. He's been more than pleased with them. He sold his '12 and bought a '16 Avalon Hybrid. Mileage not as great as the Prius but creature comforts more than make up for it.

I'm nearing 11,000 on my Fusion and have been fueling when my range to empty is close to 50 miles. Good weather has us making more trips than we have over the past year.

The technology provides so much information and helps to make driving more of a game than I've experienced in a long time.

Thats true - the game nature of the hybrid really enhances the drive. Trying to charge the battery AND be exceeding your current mpg average on the petrol engine, getting up to speed and using just electric to maintain it - and previously where all braking was wasted fuel, now it is lovely battery charging!
Also there is the choice between coasting with drag and charge, or feathering the throttle to lose the charging but roll further.
Then there are the energy monitor screens, live and average mpg bar, last 15 minutes of minute by minute figures, daily figures for the last months miles travelled and mpgs, the lifetime, A, B and current journey distance and economy figures.
The level of technology, and the functioning of the hybrid system are everything an economy minded driver could wish for!

I forgot to add, trying to fill the battery before entering a town and then seeing how long you can keep pure EV.
Basically, whenever you are near pedestrians you want to set off silently and keep it that way!
Not only is it fun, you are making the air quality better than if in any ICE vehicle.
I lived on some terribly smoggy streets in York - more and more now signs are up telling drivers to switch off engines If stationary.
