Why saving gas is better for your car than racing
Just saw this on a honda forum. The effects of driving your car too hard will eventually come back to haunt you.

Autocross
I've been considering taking the 'Teg for an Autocross spin once a month or so (I doubt my engine will blow like the pic) and maybe promote gassavers.org in the process. What ever happened to those stickers? Even though I'm not looking to win any awards, I miss it, and it keeps the skills sharp. I'd have to run in "modified" or "STS" since the intake has been modded, but oh well. Maybe I can get some friends or the Wife to participate (automatic - so everyone can play)!

what exactly is modified on
what exactly is modified on the intake? is it before or after the throttle body? sts is a safe bet and the pax index isnt much different from dstock anyway. the modified indecies have a pax that is a much larger handicap.
the 2006 rule book is online this year: here is the rule book:) you only get bumped into street mod for engine swaps, forced induction, and brake upgrades anyway. here are the pax indecies: https://www.scca-chicago.com/solo/indexes/rtp2006.html |

My only concern is the PCV catch jar. The STS rules state that the PCV system may not be altered in any way other than its straight, pass-through design (technically it does, but it collects the gunk). This might get me -- otherwise, I'm not worried. If I get my wife to get out there I think we'll have some fun - not looking to win any trophies. A friend just bought a '97 Boxster super cheap (lucky bum), maybe I can get him out there -- he could use the practice 8) |
