im going to the track on thursday. anybody want to place some bets?

so you guys want to start placing your wages? not on what i run, on what the mpg will be for that tank!! :p

motor is a stock d16z6 from a civic ex with an ebay intake and a intake manifold spacer with the fitv blocked off. i dont know if ill be running open header or not, but i do have a completely stock civic cx exhaust, which is a pea shooter.

i will be driving up there with my normal rims tires, then swapping on the bfg drs while im there.

im looking to run a high 15... i know its not much but im also looking to get over 34.5mpg on the same tank. when i arrive at the track i will have a quarter tank of gas left in it since i will have traveled around 250 miles since the full tank fill up. anyway, those are my estimates and i could be totally off! keep in mind these will be quarter mile runs, probably 3-7 runs, NOT auto-x, auto-x consumes a lot more gas ;)

whell evrey time i race u

whell evrey time i race :o u didnt hear that ;) i get bout 6-7 most 9 mpg less than fetherfooting. so for me that redline rev limmit shift point :o damn another slip. u didnt hear that eather ;) i still get a respectable 20-21 mpg per tank. ok shuting up now b4 i spill any more droping clutch racing things. :o damnit not again.....:P

Haha, 20-21 mpg per tank,

Haha, 20-21 mpg per tank, the lowest drdisco has ever gotten on his b18c5 crx was 19 mpg, a full tank of autocrossing and road racing, :p

The lowest tank I ever got

The lowest tank I ever got was 23.9mpg and that was when my car had no mods. I went 100+ for 40 miles.

Oh and my best 1/4 mile time was 15.7 that was with 75 shot, msd, intake. My car is auto.

Best Racing Mileage

The best racing mileage I've ever seen was a VW Golf Diesel converted to Biodiesel, overboosted, and fuel-pumped like mad. The race was a series of Rally Races and transits which totalled about 100 miles. While racing -- RACING, mind you -- it averaged 35 MPG. The driver and co-drivers were the best guys to talk to. Their goal was to prove that SVO can race and keep up. They finished around the middle of the pack, but not bad for a front-drive Diesel. Man that thing sounded great taking off -- like a jet engine (but like the old 707s with the black smoke and everything). Check it out here:

sooo... back on topic. any guesses guys? i filled up the tank today at sunoco. yet another variable for those who would even take it into consideration

n0rt0npr0 04-10-2006 12:28 PM

sunoco = E10

You filled up with E10 so I'll bet ya get 26mpg

thisisntjared 04-10-2006 12:37 PM

sunoco has e10 in southern

sunoco has e10 in southern nj??????? are you sure? do you know who does and who doesnt have it?? o man i hope your joking. i was averaging 34mpg on the e10 over the winter....

n0rt0npr0 04-10-2006 12:52 PM

~

what are you kidding?!?! Sunoco's been pushing E10 like its a godsend for the last four years all across the country?!

I'm sure. It's E10.

Also a rumor I heard recently...E10 gives BETTER highway mileage than regular 100% gasoline...

Interesting.

thisisntjared 04-10-2006 12:55 PM

i will never go to sunoco

i will never go to sunoco again, ever

that rumor is incorrect e10 gives much worse highway miles. look at my cars chart. you can see when i got off the winter blend, which is an ethanol blend required in nj for the winter by the epa

n0rt0npr0 04-10-2006 01:18 PM

early

It's april 10th and I am 99.5% sure new jersey is not off winter blend yet.
However daytime temperatures have lifted considerably to maybe create the illusion that winter blend is gone.
I could be wrong tho.
Also...The whole state of New Jersey has oxygenated(ethanol blended) fuels according to this thread (summertime ethanol requirement it seems)
I think the requirements in the state are only for higher evaporative content for your winter blend. Maybe your winterblend actually has more energy content than your summer!

I guess I'll be the only one

I guess I'll be the only one on the site to love ethanol, but whatev...

Anyway, I'd bet, but no money.

probably high teens, it

probably high teens, it really depends though... are you good at following the racing line? Wait is this a track with corners or just a straight line? Because straight line in my honest opinion are a waste of time and I rather get the same rush in a go kart or something..

that's why go kart racing is the bomb, its a twisty track, feels very fast (although top speed is 30mph) and no wear and tear on your own car ;) and only 10 bucks a race (10 laps, if your pro you get 30 seconds per lap although my best was 32)

annd the best part go karts are rear engine drive, so its drifting heaven ;) and boy the steering really tires out your arm after two races.

i just want to see what the car is capable of, also with quarter mile, the quicker its over the more fun it is.:p however with auto-x you can really have fun with any car, or truck for that matter. its a much different rush.

however i wont be auto-xing till june....:(

norton: great chart! but that chart says nj in sin the rfg zone, which requires ethanol or mtbe. ny and ct are the ones that specifically require ethanol. if there is more power in the nj gas then it will be quite a pleasant surprize.

it rained. when it dried

it rained. when it dried some dude blew something up and spilled oil everywhere. needless to say, my mpg is right where it was despite being from sunoco.
