The original 340 Duster weighed about 2800 pounds and could be bought for under $3k. I have taken one of those designs 6 feet airborne and it didn't even knock the front end out of alignment.

luv2spd: According to Porsche, they have no plans to make the production 911 mid-engine, although I would prefer they would.

As for a comparison between a 'Vette and a 911, there are reviews you can watch on YouTube. Surprisingly, they say the 'Vette can sustain higher G-forces, but its handling is squirlier in turns.

Agreed. How much larger can it become and STILL be called a "mini"?
