There's a mercedes taxi out there that's done many many millions.

Anyway, honda buys 1 million mile cars back, and in return you can drive off the lot with anything you want (insight, baby!)

There was a rumor on honda-tech about it two weeks ago and it was confirmed by two members that had it happen to them, with threads and pictures of the new cars and all.

If we drove around in EVs,

If we drove around in EVs, million mile cars would be the norm, rather than the exception.

A series DC motor can last 500,000-1,000,000 miles in an automotive application with no maintenance except for brush changes(every 100,000 miles or so costing $15 and taking 20 minutes to do yourself), and no repairs in a normal application.

An AC motor can in theory last 2 million+ miles with zero maintenance at all. Alan Cocconi of AC Propulsion uses one for his electric Honda CRX, and it is rated for 1 million miles...

I thought it was sad when on the radio the other day the DJ's were saying something about "old cars" haveing 130,000 miles.
the most I've had on a car was 250,000 and it was in perfect condition, to me 100,000 miles is just braking it in, but then again, amarican compenies design their cars to only last 120,000 on average, 6.5 years is their goal.
I just today sold my vw rabbit diesel to a family who was shocked that it was such a low mile vehicle, 153,000 miles, "it's almost new!"

My original plan for my 1990 Honda Civic was to go 1 million miles...there's a thread on Honda-Tech somewhere about it.
