Vehicle ranking.
Hello,
I am looking at the vehicle ranking in fuelly; something bothers me; while the ranking of the motorcycle based on MPG. appears to be about right, the ranking of the cars is all messed up. How can you have the Honda Civic ( non hybrid) and Ford F150 ahead of the Toyota Prius? Is it a ranking based on model popularity? If it is the case, it leads you to think that having a civic or a Ford F150 is the best you can do for reducing your carbon foot print. Somewhat misleading if the goal is to increase your MPG..... |
It clearly states the number of vehicles registered on fuelly of that model starting from highest to lowest. Its pretty easy to figure out in my opinion.

Those top ten are based on number of registered here.
An easy filter for sorting by best fuel economy was skipped because of concerns it would foster cheating. |
The ranking is not based on mpg but on how many of each type are registered here. What's more interesting to me than how many are ahead of the Prius is that the Jetta is second most represented.

It is roughly a 50/50 mix of gas and diesel Jettas here.
