Used to be a popular choice with young boy racers here when I was growing up. Never really took much notice of them back then, but looking back, you can appreciate how good they were. One of those cars that's becoming rare and collectable, mint examples now fetch high prices. Take note of the kerb weights, compare my modern Peugeot Gti to one from back then, bigger, safer, tons of more equipment, and turbocharged with all the extra cooling equipment required, 100+ extra bhp yet the weight is near identical. Power to weight ratio has evolved substantialy.
