EU noise restrictions

In the constant war on internal combustion engined cars, today I learn of another regulation by the EU, not on emissions for once, but this time noise. As if choking our beautiful sports cars with gasoline particulate filters isn't fun bashing enough, which in itself partially restricts noise. It's kind of confusing how they calculate the set levels, it involves a cars power V's mass ratio, and how low you sit to the ground. A powerful sports car is currently allowed to make a louder noise than your average car, however underpowered versions of similar cars are not. For example the ecoboost Mustang has noise restrictions the same as a small hatchback. In 2024, a lamborghinni will only be allowed to make as much noise as.... wait for it, a Ford fiesta... And guess what? In certain areas, they've already started trialing acoustic cameras, with a microphone that detects the decibels and takes a picture of your numberplate and issues you a fine if you exceed the regulations. Our ICE cars are going to succumb to a far quicker death than we first thought if this carries on. Time to revisit impending EV purchase.

Macron has just announced a huge traunch of money for EV manufacture in France and a huge upfront payment for EV purchases.
