I'm starting to love diesel again, the low down torque just pins you in your seat, and get 6+ cylinder and they sound just as sporty as a petrol. I've seen a nice SQ5 locally with a 3.0 litre twin turbo V6 diesel and 360 bhp, I bet it shifts some...

I test drove a VW TDI in the 90's. The torque was just like you said, strong and really pushed you back into the seat from just off idle. I never owned one but thought about it various times.

VW TDI

Put 50,000 satisfying miles on a VW TDI JSW 6M. Y'all are right on the money: torque is big time.
Along came the emissions clusterfock ..............
Along came the US court system.....................

Personally, the unexpected court-mandated buyback was a real windfall for this sailor.

IMHO: a once-in-a-lifetime unbelievable DEAL.

VW refunded my purchase price (with help from Bosch)
Local dealer practically GAVE me a 1.4L Jetta 5M.

i'm still in awe after 4 years (The Jetta gets 90 per cent of the diesel wagon's fuel numbers.......................)

No complaints here,

I just sold my Q7 on Friday. I'd only had it 8 months. The reason I sold it was because I initially bought it to sell it anyway, second hand car prices went through the roof due to increased demand, and as it was due 4 new tyres and a service, I decided to let it go and make more profit. It was a great car, and I kind of miss it already, but as investment, each passing month was a big chunk of profit gone, both in road tax which was £50 a month, and diesel. Might get another, once the newer shaped ones come down in price, even quicker and much better on fuel too.
