THE best hot hatch ever
|
A hot hatch in my opinion is supposed to tick all boxes, sure it has it to be quick, practical and comfortable, but it also has to be affordable. Something that starts at almost £50k, especially for a Honda, is just ridiculous, I don't care how amazing it is to drive. The hot hatch era is apparently coming to an end, as manufacturers are embracing the ICE ban in a few years time, and investing in EVs.
It's a great shame, enthusiasts like me will be a dieing breed in a few decades, along with the cars that can be both weekend warriors and daily drivers. I feel sad. |
I have driven a Type R at Knockhill racing circuit and it was fantastic. I wasn't allowed to unleash it fully but it was way too fast for me and cornered as if it was on rails.

FK8. It is the 316bhp Honda Civic Type-R currently used at the circuit. 0:45.60 for Llandow.

Oh yea, marginally quicker than the Pug, in most instances anyway. Interesting at some higher speeds, the Gti has better acceleration. Probably due to the lighter weight.

Yeah, it's $49k over here. Way out of my budget, not that I'm looking for such a thing. Now if I could put a CR-V body on that chassis we'd be onto something.

Have you considered the Kona N? SUV with 300 bhp, quick little car. Alternatively there's the VW Troc R as well with similar power. |
I'm happy with my Escape but I think about things like that now and then. Or like putting an SI into a Fit. That would also be a fun car I think.

I'm still in the "life's too short to own boring cars" phase, maybe I'll grow out of it or I'll loose interest and care about other things more, but for now, driving is a hobby rather than a chore, especially on roads that mimic racetracks. Took these two shots on the weekend, one of my favourite roads, empty this time of year so you can go as fast or slow as you like...

Looked at buying a Clio today. Just a bog standard one, but decided against it.

......a boring car - like beauty - is in the eyes of the beholder.........sound familiar?
After a string of cars - Corvette, Porsche, Rx-7, Supra Turbo..................... I've fallen into the fuel efficiency pocket............. I'm getting close to hybrid/EV numbers - - - and still am able to use the clutch, synchros and throttle to achieve the good MPG............. That's good snuff 4me. ez |
Whatever floats your boat as they say. I always drive the best I can afford, I buy quick cars for my own benefit, no one else's, but if they happen to turn a few heads, that's fine by me, especially having been single for a number of years. I was lucky enough to clear my mortgage just before lockdown, so I'm fortunate to be able to run two cars. That may change soon, but I like to make the best of whatever situation I'm in, live for the moment kinda thing, happiness is always temporary.
