Honda S2000 a fail?

Talk people, talk.

So the S2000 was an all around miss?

I don't think it was a miss. From my perspective this is a very cool car, and I can see how some people might not like it. One of the things I like about Honda is that they build cars that they think matter (even if it might be a flop with customers), like the first gen Honda Insight was a very special car.

The new Honda Monocompacto is a good example of that, a foldable electric motorcycle that folds into a brief case. They didn't have to make it, but they thought it was going to be a cool idea that you can buy for $1,000.

I worked for a few months at a Honda dealership at that time. I thought it was a great car. We didn't sell very many but they were cool cars. I'd love to have one.

The point about the driving position is a very valid one. Until I owned a Porsche, I didn't appreciate how important this was. It's perfect and every car you drive after feels kinda odd and awkward. There's no intrusive tranny tunnel so for someone with size 14 feet, there's plenty of space, I can rest my foot next to the clutch with ease. The pedals are perfectly aligned and central with the steering wheel. And that's before you even get into clutch weight, steering feel, throttle response, the sound of a flat six behind you, the slick precise manual box... Sorry, I drooled a bit. I've been bitten by the Porsche bug and it is a bit of an addiction.

Yes, I'd be glad to have my 911 back but I'd also be quite happy to have an S2000.
