I went to the movie months ago, and was glad I did, for it opened my eyes to the problem of Global Warming.

It's been out for a looooonnnnnnggggggg time, so maybe that's to be expected. I *think* I saw it on memorial day with my wife a few months ago, and we had a very good crowd.

I think the most alarming thing is when he is on that crane/lift thingy at the end of the chart. He is demonstrating that the temperature is going off the chart as a function of the other inputs. If that worse case scenario comes to pass, that's DOA for the human civilization in it's current form.

I will sit and watch this when Gore comes back "home" to Tennessee and cleans up his messes. His vote for the Tellico Dam, Clinch River Reactor, his Zinc mine, his Nashville home not being part of GreenSwitch, etc.

Then there was his (more Tipper's) involvement in the sensorship "Porn Wars" attack on the music industry. Democrat for sensorship?

Whether or not you like the guy, there's some solid Scientific data supporting global warming.

I saw an interesting shop on the BBC about Siberia and global warming affecting the permafrost there.

In the permafrost is trapped methane from 1000 year old rotten vegatation and animals.
The experts say that global warming has increaed the temperature there to the point that the permafrost is melting and releaseing the gas to the atmosphere.
A little bit of methane is OK but this unusually large amount causes a cascading greenhouse effect on the atmosphere.

Which apparently isnt a good thing.

OK.....Not sure how this is an attack as I often vote democrat and already have in early voting here. I have lived in TN for over ten years, so I know what I see here regarding Mr. Gore. Afterall, this is his "home" state....

As for global warming, maybe on a local scale (this is VERY true actually), but the idea that human activity is the cause of this not proven and can be debated either way.

After all, we have seen both tropics and glaciers on the same lands (as in the post above, how did the biomass get frozen? Was it the caveman and their SUVs?

I have a BS in environmental sciences including physical geography and geology classes and meterololgy, and granted, while this was more years ago than I care to think about, the consensus is that the air the turn of the last centrury was a lot cleaner of particulate, CO and NOx than it was 100 years ago when there was less tree cover in the US than there is now before improvements (far from perfect) in forestry practice. Those days were coal and wood burning and active clear-cutting, thus removing any natural filters for this.

I have read articles that portray the global warming controversy as something akin to the Smoking/Cancer debate. From my POV, the controversy among the scientific communitiy is the *magnitude* of global warming as a function of human activity. Here's one :

I finally saw it a few nights ago. It is definitely an excellent, well made, and compelling documentary that has converted many skeptics into believers by showing them the evidence that Dubya and the media don't want them to see. The day after seeing it, my dad actually rode his bike to the store. That's a pretty major accomplishment considering that he's a republican pro-war Amerikan.
