I re-wrote Ben Scale's song, "I'm Growing Marijuana in My Yard"

Figured you all might enjoy it.

No, I'm not really growing marijuana in my yard. No, I don't have a biodiesel car, although I am building an electric car and when I get my own place, I will be using wind and solar panels to provide electricity for it(and my dwelling) with sterling engines and diesel gensets as backup. Off grid is the goal.

Anyway, here's the video of Ben Scales singing the original song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LusYNmp1AsI

If you don't feel like downloading the song, you can read his lyrics here:

https://www.benscales.com/music.htm

Here's my version:

I'm growin' marijuana in my yard,
I use it every day to run my car,
For one gallon of biodiesel,
Sixty cents is quite a steal,
Three bucks a gallon, or marijuana in your yard?

George Washington grew marijuana in his yard,
Thomas Jefferson smoked it rather hard,
Said for national prosperity,
Grow sweet hemp in our land of the free,
So our founding fathers grew marijuana in their yards.

I'm growin' marijuana in my yard,
In a sterling engine, it burns swell,
Livin' out in the hills,
I don't pay no electric bill,
Because I'm growin' marijuana in my yard.

The oil industry wanted to outlaw pot,
Wood paper too, would've had their profits drop a lot,
So DuPont and William Randolph Hearst,
Paid good cash to do their worst,
Made sure we can't grow marijuana in our yards.

I'm growin' marijuana in my yard,
Yes I'm growin' marijuana in my yard,
Helping protest this oil war,
I'm not using no gas anymore,
So I support the troops, growin' right there in my yard.

My plants are growing rather well,
So **** you Mr. Bush and your drug war,
Violating our constitution,
This problem has one solution,
Assert your rights and grow more marijuana in your yard!

I'm growin' marijuana in my yard,
Makes a body for my race car, it ain't hard,
One third the weight of steel,
No rust just seals the deal,
So I'm growin' marijuana in my yard.

Cops came to my door just yesterday,
Wouldn't leave, so they had a talk with Mr. AK,
They should have let me be, isn't this the land of the free?
It's my right to grow marijuana in my yard!
Yes our founding fathers grew marijuana in their yards!

If you don't defend your rights away they go,
Men with guns, tell you what seeds you can't sow,
When they won't leave your home they can go to hell,
So grab your gun and pump 'em up with shells,
Fertilizer for growin' marijuana in your yard!
To your death, marijuana growin' in your yard!
Fly that flag high with marijuana growin' in your yard!

Figured you all would get a laugh out of it.

I wonder how many times you violated the Patriot Act with that one? :D

You can make biodiesel and methanol out of industrial hemp(same species of plant as marijuana, but technically not marijuana itself. Our government still treats its cultivation as if it really were the female marijuana plant that can create intoxication.).

Industrial hemp is an excellent source of biofuels since it needs no fertilizer or pesticide inputs, and often leaves the soil in better condition than when it was originally planted. EROEI on par with sugarcane ethanol(> 1). 1 hectare yields roughly 1 to 1.5 tons of hemp oil per harvest, plus other parts of the plant for fabric and methanol.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it(Err, put that in your diesel engine and run it.).

Here's a video on hemp biodiesel that I found on youtube:

Hemp and marijuana both could make large inroads in lessening U.S. oil dependence and the impact on the environment.

A few videos on hemp as fuel and other uses:

Hemp can produce the equivalent of 10-15 barrels of oil per acre. The U.S. could become oil independent by planting its unused farmland with hemp.

It's only a matter of time before Department of Homeland Scrutiny knocks on your door.

As far as I'm concerned, that unconstitutional, overbloated, reactionary morass of government pork can go **** themselves.

Were I president, I'd do everything I could to immediately dissolve the HSA, FBI, CIA, DEA, NSA, EPA, FDA, ATF, and other organizations that have done much more harm to this country than they have benefitted it. Nevermind what powers our constitution said the government had, and how these organizations are allowing our government to overstep its bounds.

We could do so much with so little, if only corporate and government greed didn't prevent the rest of us from doing it.

OK

You aren't by any chance an anarchist, are you?

GasSavers_nathan 03-23-2007 07:02 PM

it'd be nice if that stuff was legal. i love growing plants and looked into growing the low thc hemp but as you know its rather worthless compared to what it could be. plus all the crap you gotta go through just to get lisenced to grow is quite the hassle in itself.
I'd like to be a farmer but there really isn't very many plants i could grow to make a decent living. maybe some organic vegetables and herbs for restaurants or something.

No, but pretty damn close. I have participated in demonstrations with people who refer to themselves as anarchists and share a good number of their views.

To my recollection, the DEA has never granted any farmer a permit to grow it.

Hemp by itself is inherently low THC. A specially engineered low THC strain is not necessary, even normal THC industrial hemp still can't get a person high, and even then, who is our government to tell us that we can't get high?

GasSavers_nathan 03-24-2007 06:35 AM

im in canada eh.
I should look into it further to see if the low thc stuff they let us grow here would be worthwhile. if you grow for fiber or grain you need a min of 4 hectares, if you grow for seed then its only 0.4 hectare minimum. If it wasn't for these minimum requirements i could put a few plants in my yard to see how they grow and decide if i like them before committing to planting a large plot.

Silveredwings 03-24-2007 06:54 AM

I had hemp for breakfast.

GasSavers_nathan 03-24-2007 07:01 AM

i saw that stuff in stores before, how is it?

Silveredwings 03-24-2007 07:26 AM

It's pretty good. Plenty-o-crunch and not as heavy as most. Their flax granola is similar and (I guess) has more omega 3s, 6s but I find has a fishy after taste. This one doesn't. YMMV. :D

Same. I'm not quite full anarchist, but consider myself one because no other classification can describe my views.

Anarchist demonstrations are the most fun though, and I do join in with the Black Bloc when a demonstration is large enough for a bloc.
