newby from Hong Kong

Hi all,

Great place here, loads of fuel saving info,
I currently own a 1998 Honda CR-V AT, hope to
find something to improve the MPG.

Cheers.

Heya Smoke! Looks like we're slowly taking over the globe... so far we have the USA, canada, Australia, Japan, and now Hong Kong. It's a slow takeover, but we'll get there. :P

Tell us a bit more about yourself, including what your daily commute is like, why you are interested in fuel economy, etc. Don't forget to take a moment to create a garage entry for your vehicle so you can track your fuel consumption. For the time being we are tracking in US MPG, but I plan on adding the capability to use KM and Liters soon.

nice my parents have a 2000 cr-v. i am nearly certain they are identical mechanically.

the only way to attack fuel efficiency is in small little steps that help.

some small but proven methods specifically for the cr-v in order of ease:
remove mud flaps
inflate tires to max pressure
construct underbody panel for aerodynamics.
accelerate and drive slower

Hi Matt and thanks for the tips "thisisntjared",

Actually, I own two cars, CR-V is mainly for my wife,
taking care of two monster childs. And mostly short trips.:o

And the other one is 2001 VW polo GTI, love it;)
I mostly drive it to work for about 60km a day.

In HK, fuel price is isane, price today USD$1.8/Litre,
V-power USD$1.88/Litre.
and government taking 50% from it.

Sweet, you win the 100th active member post award thing, though we're not exactly sure what that is yet...:)

But seriously, welcome to the site!

Damn, 8 bucks a gallon! I wish gas were that much in the US, people would get their act together quickly. Myself included, :p

Have you been tracking your fuel economy up to this point? How's it?

Pictures!!!

Hey SVOboy,

there's a lot of stop and go traffic in HK, my best
is 11.1km per litre with 20% Hi-way 80%city.
But normally I drive 100% city for about 10km/Litre.

For the CR-V, hell, 6.8km/Litre worst, best is 7.48km/Litre.
Just thinking of switching to a 1.3 litre mini van though.

Darn, 1.3 liter minivan, nice. The crv is a 2.4 in HK too, right?

You could always pick up a civic wagovan, :)

My CR-V is 2.0 AWD, there's no 2.4 Gen-1 CR-V in HK I believed,
and Civic Wagovan either.

But we do have loads of JDM models around.

SVOboy 08-08-2006 07:27 AM

Ah, yeah, I forgot, that model has the B20, neat stuff though. Create some garage entries for them!

V-power USD$1.88/Litre.

$1.80 per liter?? Since a liter is about a quart, you have ~$7.20 a gallon!!! WOW! No wonder you need "gassavers"!

With all the "hype" on gassavers (promoted by flatEarthers!) , you'll need a scorecard to find your way!LOL!

How can I help you? Contact me at [ whitevette at email dot com ] and we'll try.... :D
